Chelsea Hossack
Chelsea started dancing at the age of 7. Now, at 21, she currently dances with Thistle & Thorn, still competes with Thistlebrook Academy, and is the Instructor for the White Spot Pipe Band Dancers. When Chelsea isn’t dancing, she is focusing and working hard on her studies at SFU. Her most memorable dance moment was when she accidentally jumped on and broke her sword at a competition.
-
Megan Hall
Megan started dancing at age 12 with Gillie Callum Highland Dancers and continued to dance competitively until she was 18. Since retiring from the competitive world, she has enjoyed performing in Tattoos and with professional dance companies. Megan spends her days working as a Project Engineer and her spare time hiking with her dog, Rosie, or with her nose in a book. She has been known to have a breakdown if she does not have access to lip balm.
-
Katelyn Currie
Katelyn started dancing at age 4 in her hometown on Vancouver Island. In addition to Highland, she also enjoyed Tap and Ballet. After her competitive years she found joy in travelling and performing with professional dance companies. Katelyn works as a Software Engineer Manager. In her free time she loves being with her dogs, riding horses, and travelling.
-
Cooper Hossack
Cooper began dancing at the age of 4 and continues as a competitive dancer with Thistlebrook Academy. Now at 17, he has joined Thistle & Thorn as our youngest member. Cooper is also a tenor drummer for the White Spot Pipe Band and hopes to continue drumming while pursuing Psychology at SFU. His favorite part of dancing is the life-long friendships made within the studio and at competitions.
-
Meghan Pike
Meghan has been dancing since the age of 3. At 20, she opened her own studio, Thistlebrook Academy of Highland Dance, celebrating 10 years in 2024. Meghan works as an I.E.S.W. and provides respite during school breaks. When Meghan isn’t dancing or teaching, she’s playing with her baseball team or spending time outside. You will never see her without a Starbucks or Diet Coke in hand!
-
Allison Schreiber
Allison has been dancing since the age of 7 and has been involved throughout her life. Once her daughter joined Thistlebrook Academy, Allison was excited to find a group of adult dancers who are as committed to having fun together as they are to delivering great performances. Allison works in Manufacturing & Supply Chain and spends her free time with her family camping and travelling.
-
Erin Bernard
Erin started Scottish Country dancing at age 6, and Highland Dance at 13. She has always loved performing and was thrilled to find a group of people who share her passion. Erin is currently a student at SFU and when she’s not dancing, can be found outdoors surrounded in nature. Fun Fact - Erin is a master on her sewing machine and makes almost all of the choreography outfits for Thistlebrook Academy!
